Il 24 marzo si è concluso l’appuntamento di Baselworld; queste le notizie ufficiali: oltre 1500 espositori da 40 nazioni, complessivamente 145 mila partecipanti tra espositori, rivenditori, visitatori.

Baselworld 2016 was closed yesterday, slightly less visitors, more journalist; a big success for Internet press conference on March 16th followed by 11.000 journalists in the world. Retailers’ sales on December were not good and on January there was a stop, while during February figures were a little bit better. Baselworld 2017 will be on March 23rd-30th and the year after from March 22nd to 29th.

Nei giornali il titolo è tutto perché “fa notizia”. Invece del serioso “Baselworld 2016: Rolex” forse sarebbe stato meglio scrivere “at last inox italian dream Daytona “.

Title of an article is very important, perharps here it would have been clever to choose one about new inox Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, but in our opinion Daytona has many interesting brothers, even if for many people it’s always a “dream”; we like Oyster Perpetual Datejust. In Baselworld there were many Rolex novelties, here some of them; about Oyster case, 90 years old, and classic Cellini we’ll write in a second time.

Baselworld 2016: Patek Philippe

L’Ore del Mondo di Patek Philippe, un’icona che con la cassa in acciaio a un’asta ottenne un record tuttora insuperato, va in pensione, sostituito dal nuovo Cronografo Ore Universali, Ref.5930 che unisce due complicazioni molto richieste.

For the first time a new World Time self-winding Chronograph Ref.5930, while old World Time is no more on catalogue, the new is Ref.5230; then a new Annual Calendar for 20° anniversary, a beautiful white Lady Calatrava Ref 7122 and a special edition of Ref.6300, with a more simple case than the one made for 175° anniversary.

A Basilea e anche prima: total black e blu

Abbiamo scritto agli inizi dell’anno che il colore del 2016 per gli orologi femminili sarebbe stato il rosa in tutte le sue sfumature, adesso dopo aver visto Ginevra e Basilea, per i polsi maschili siamo al 50% total black (Bulgari lo chiama Ultra Nero) anche nelle gradazioni della grafite e per il restante 50% blu, almeno per quadrante e cinturino.

Alla fine del XIX secolo nasceva in America la Gruen Watch Company, azienda nella quale Steven Holtzman ha imparato ad amare la bella orologeria e nel 2005 questa passione ha dato vita a Maîtres du Temps, non solo un marchio, ma una nuova filosofia: il tempo visto in un contesto tridimensionale in continua evoluzione.

Gruen Watch Co.was born in U.S. Steven Holtzman begun there to love watches, founding Maîtres du Temps in 2005, like a book with many chapters where watches are made by different watchmakers. This year a new chapter for art and watchmaking has 12 unique pocket watches.

Tenuto quasi segreto fino all’ultimo (un teaser sui social indicava solo “striking”) l’Octo Finissimo Ripetizione Minuti che si affianca al Finissimo Tourbillon quest’anno in total black, e allo Squelette altrettanto sottile, è stato svelato ieri sera da Jean Christophe Babin CEO di Bvlgari e da Guido Terreni direttore Divisione orologi.

Top secret till March 16th when Jean-Christophe Babin devoiled it (before only a teaser on social was saying “striking”) Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater with titanium case, a very thin movement (mm 3,12) and a good sound, confirms Brand’s position in high watchmaking.

Baselworld 2016 si inaugura domani, ma da molti anni il giorno precedente all’inaugurazione ufficiale è  riservato alla stampa, consentendo visite più agevoli anche se sono previsti molti incontri per presentare le novità molto spesso coperte da embargo sino all’ultimo momento.

Baselworld official opening will be tomorrow, but during press-day many novelties are devoiled, for example Tudor new Heritage Black Bay Bronze, case ø 43 mm, sub 200 m. selfwinding movement.
